I have learnt from Bhyrappa that the aim of history is speak the truth and nothing else. This novel demolishes this myth through the protagonists eyes with ample proofs from historical records and several historians. Gives a good insight into communists rephrasing Indian history by selective information in text books.
Well, once we begin to read history are we sure that we are reading the correct version of it. However, to further their agenda these historians have convoluted Indian history to portray a history of their choice than the truth.
The wvarana written by the protagonist is very brutal though. One would be just blown away by reading just 2 pages of Preface Pravesha. But it is also self-serving, divisive and short-sighted, if not wilfully blind to the kannads of chest-thumping majoritarianism. Aavarana is a compelling read, mainly due to its raw appeal that hits readers at appropriate places like a jolt. It takes you back to the times of Mogul rule, especially Aurangazeb’s regime.
